Solvent based paint for the protection and decoration of building surfaces. For Interior use only. Application by brush only.
Substances presenting a health hazard within the meaning of Chemicals (Hazard Information and Packaging) regulations 1993 or assigned occupational exposure limits:
White Spirit Concentration Range <50%
Xylene Concentration Range <2.5%
De-aromatised White Spirit Concentration Range <25%
3. Hazards Identification.
FLAMMABLE liquid and vapours. Inhalation of organic solvent vapours may be hazardous to health.
4. First Aid Measures.
General: In all cases of doubt, or when symptoms persist, seek medical attention. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person.
Inhalation: Remove to fresh air, keep patient warm and at rest. If breathing has stopped, administer artificial respiration.
Eye Contact: Contact lenses should be removed. Irrigate copiously with clean fresh water, holding eyelids apart, for at least 10 minutes. Seek medical advice.
Skin Contact: Remove contaminated clothing. Wash skin with soap and water.
DO NOT use solvents or thinners.
Ingestion: If accidentally swallowed obtain immediate medical attention preferably at the nearest hospital accident emergency unit. Keep at rest.
DO NOT induce vomiting. If conscious give milk or water to drink.
5. Fire Fighting Measures.
Recommended Extinguishing Media:
Alcohol resistant foam, CO2 powder, water mist. DO NOT use water jet.
Fire will produce dense black smoke containing hazardous products of combustion.
Decomposition products may be a hazard to health.
Cool closed containers exposed to fire with water spray.
DO NOT allow run-off from fire-fighting to enter drains, septic tanks or water courses.
6. Accidental Release Measures.
Exclude sources of ignition and ventilate the area. Exclude non-essential personnel. Avoid breathing vapours. Floors may become slippery. Contain and collect spillages with non-combustible absorbent materials (e.g. sand) and place in a clearly labelled container suitable for disposal in accordance with the waste regulations. Clean with a detergent.
DO NOT use solvents.
DO NOT allow to enter drains or water courses.
7. Handling & Storage.
Apply by brush only. Avoid skin and eye contact. Avoid inhalation of vapour.
Solvent vapours are heavier than air and may spread along floors. Prevent the creation of flammable or explosive concentrations. Exclude all naked lights and other sources of ignition, heat, sparks, and open flame. Smoking, eating, and drinking should be prohibited in areas of storage and use.
Observe Product Data precautions. Keep ALL paints out of reach of children. Store between 5°C and 25°C in a dry well-ventilated place away from sources of heat, ignition and direct sunlight.
Containers which are opened should be properly resealed and kept upright to prevent leakage. Store separately from oxidising agents and strongly alkaline and strongly acidic materials.
8. Exposure Controls/ Personal Protection.
Provide adequate ventilation, preferably by the use of local exhaust ventilation and good general extraction.
Wear suitable respiratory protective equipment in poorly ventilated areas. Where high levels of solvent vapour are likely to arise (e.g. confined spaces or large interior surfaces) air-fed respiratory protective equipment should be worn.
Barrier creams may help to protect exposed areas but are not substitutes for full physical protection. Seek advice from glove manufacturers on appropriate types.
Wear eye protection designed to protect against liquid splashes.
Cotton or cotton/synthetic overalls are normally suitable. Grossly contaminated clothing should be removed and skin cleaned with soap and water or a proprietary skin cleaner.
9. Physical and Chemical Properties.
Physical state Viscous liquid.
Flash point 38°C
Viscosity 2.0 - 3.2 poise.
Specific gravity 1.25 to 1.35
Vapour density: Heavier than air.
Solubility in water: Immiscible.
10. Stability and Reactivity.
Stable under the recommended storage and handling conditions. In a fire, hazardous decomposition products such as smoke, carbon monoxide, and oxides of nitrogen may be produced.
11. Toxicological Information.
No data available on the product itself. Exposure to organic solvent vapours may result in adverse health effects on the respiratory and central nervous systems. Repeated or prolonged contact may lead to non-allergic dermatitis. Splashes in the eyes may cause irritation and reversible local damage. Ingestion may result in sore throat, abdominal pain, drowsiness, nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea.
12. Ecological Information.
No data available on the product itself. The product should not be allowed to enter drains or water-courses or be deposited where it can affect ground or surface waters.
13. Disposal Considerations.
Waste, including emptied containers should be disposed of in accordance with the Control of Pollution Act 1974, and the Environmental Protection Act 1990.
14. Transport Information.
Always transport in closed containers that are upright and secure. Ensure personnel are aware of procedures in the event of accident.
