2. Description.

Beige coloured powder used as a binder in certain mortars, plasters, and renders.

3. Composition.

Prompt Natural Cement is quick-setting and quick-hardening. It results exclusively from firing an argillaceous limestone of regular composition, at a moderate temperature (1000 to 1200°C), followed by very fine grinding. It consists mainly of silicates, aluminates and calcium sulpho-aluminate, and small quantities of chalk, magnesia, sodium sulphate, potassium and calcium and other trace elements. Prompt Natural cement contains very small quantities of insolubles in which free silica may be found

4. Hazards Identification.

Prompt Natural Cement is not classified as a ‘dangerous preparation’ 67/548/EEC.


H318 Causes Serious Eye Damage. 


H315 Causes skin irritation. 

H335 May cause respiratory irritation.

5. First Aid Measures.

Inhalation:   If inhalation has occurred, go into fresh air. Particles, if inhaled can irritate the upper respiratory tract, and dry mucous membranes. If irritation persists seek medical advice.

Eye Contact: Avoid contact with eyes. When mixed with water the paste is highly alkaline. Remove contact lenses. Irrigate copiously with clean fresh water. Seek medical advice.

Skin Contact: Avoid prolonged contact with skin. When mixed with water, the highly alkaline paste can dry the skin, and cause allergic skin reactions in hypersensitive individuals. Always rinse skin after contact, and use protective creams against allergic symptoms.

6. Fire Fighting Measures:

Non Flammable. No dangerous decomposition products.

7. Accidental Release Measures:

Spillage:  Recover powder and dispose (landfill) in accordance with the waste regulations as non hazardous waste. DO NOT allow to enter drains or water courses

8. Handling and Storage.


Handle in ventilated areas and prevent dust diffusion. Wear dust mask.

Do not inhale or ingest.  Protect eyes and skin.

Smoking, eating and drinking must be prohibited in areas of storage and use.


Observe product data precautions.  Limited Shelf Life.  Store in sealed bags in dry storage.  Protect from air and rain as damp will cause the cement to set.

9. Exposure Controls/ Personal Protection.

Provide adequate ventilation.

Respiratory protection:

Wear mask during mixing.

Hand Protection:

Barrier creams may help but are no substitute for full physical protection. Seek advice from glove manufacturers on appropriate types.

Eye Protection:

Wear eye protection at all times.

Skin Protection:

Wear adequate protective clothing.  Cotton or cotton/synthetic overalls are normally suitable.

10. Physical and Chemical Properties.

Physical State: Beige Powder.

Solubility in water:  Dissolution is accompanied by the immediate precipitation of the formed hydrates.

pH: 11-13 in water.

Specific Gravity: 1.4 to 1.5

11. Environmental Information.

Natural cement plants are equipped with dust elimination filters. 

After hardening, the cement and its products are definitively combined and insoluble. No further precautions are necessary.

Do not allow prompt or natural cement mortar to enter drains or water-courses.

12. Disposal

Dispose as Non Hazardous waste in accordance with the Environment Protection Act 1990.

13. Transport.

Not dangerous for transport.
